On & Off the paint table

Finally got my arse back into gear and started to prepare the next lot of ancient Germans that I NEED to paint. These figures are all 'Black Tree Miniatures' I purchased a year or so ago.

After watching http://caliban-somewhen.blogspot.com.au/  roll out his Germans and http://wabcorner.blogspot.com.au/ punch out his 'War of the Roses" figures I thought I had better get moving.

Although I have been getting side-tracked lately, (don't we all), and decided to put a few green skins to the brush.

I was only going to do ten but a few more have crept onto the desk.

Friday night was a fantastic 'War of the Roses' game using Andrew's figures. Again we moved the figures around utilising  Simon Miller's great rule set - "To the Strongest"

160pts armies and the game took about 3hrs with 2 players aside - although we did stop for a food break.

I did intend to take a few more photos, but got wrapped up in the game.

Thanks once again Andrew for the use of the miniatures, hope you had a good time .
Cheers.......................now how many ancient Germans do I have!!!!!!

Whats on the painting desk

Winter is heading our way, days are getting shorter, nights are getting cooler and beer is changing from wheat to dark lagers.
Hopefully these means more gaming as I prefer to sit in the pool and drink when the days are 35 and above.

Anywho .......... whats on the desk at present...................

A 28mm laser cut French Chateau - just needs to be painted up.

15mm trench/dug-in markers for "Blitzkrieg Commander". Was going to purchase latex or molded trench systems but thought I would try making some myself. 1/4 round wood cut into assorted lengths and covered with ballast. We'll see what they paint up like.

2 x 28mm Carthaginian commanders and starting the last unit of Carthaginian troops.

Cheers, Guido.

Painting desk

Thought I'd drop in a quick post, was going to do it once I completed the unit I'm working on, (Tarentine cav), but that could be a little while yet.
Anyway heres a shot of my messy painting area, a few different items scattered around, even a few orks if you look close enough. The tarentines are there nearing completion, only took about 12months to get started.

Next is a few items some recently purchased from e-bay, I knew I should have kept away I hate that site, and a few others Ive had for a while which I intended to start on................................sometime.

The book "Victoria's Wars" I picked up from my local club. Not a bad read if your into that period. The figures are mainly ancients including Romans, Germans, Celts and Greeks. I'm sure you all know how it goes, paint 10 and purchase 100.
Happy painting!!
