Finished these a couple of weeks ago. A deep unit for 'To the Strongest' made up of Wargames Foundry figures.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
Its been a while since the last
completed figures moved off the painting table.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
This lot are VICTRIX Gallic
cavalry. I'm still not convinced on plastic figures but this lot didn't seem so
bad, actually I was very impressed with the horses.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
Shields LBM. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
Even though they are Gallic I
chickened out on trying to paint the chequered patterns. Just the odd stripes
here and there.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0cm;">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
12 figures in the packet which
gives me 2 units for "To the Strongest" rules and a couple of spares
to be used as sub generals or heroes.<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qRW6WS47VQ8/XpFcnqztwaI/AAAAAAAABHE/x1e-B8VaAo81dGrFEtMNGZybCcJtTQ5IQCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/20200319_125347.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qRW6WS47VQ8/XpFcnqztwaI/AAAAAAAABHE/x1e-B8VaAo81dGrFEtMNGZybCcJtTQ5IQCK4BGAYYCw/s320/20200319_125347.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

Not much has been happening on the painting desk for a while.<br />
I finally finished off a unit of Vikings. These are second hand, so did a bit of a repaint and added a few shield designs.<br />
This is supposed to represent a deep unit for TtS rules so its really the base depth that matters. I tried squeezing a few more minis on the base but then it looked really crowded and a bit of a pain with the spears pointing in all directions. Now I remember what a pain it was organising all the individual based models on a movement tray for WAB games.<br />

Finally finished 4 units of hoplites based for TtS.<br />
Figures are Foundry miniatures and some of the shields have LBM transfers on them.<br />
I wish I could say I painted the lot but I only did about one and a half bases worth, The rest I purchased second hand off a friend. They had hand painted shields which looked great. I just changed the old lead spears for steel ones and redid the bronze.<br />

The Battle of Akragas - 406BC</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I've taken this from the first battle in the <i>Command & Colors:Ancients</i> game. Carthaginian V's Syracusan forces.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I converted the units listed on <i>C&C </i> using the army lists from <i>To the Strongest </i>and will use <i>To the Strongest</i> rules to play the game<i>. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As it worked out, the points come out exactly the same. There are no terrain features for this battle, so just a straight head to head.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now just have to finish this 10 days straight stint at work and I might manage to get to play it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I was one hoplite block short, so 4 units are only 3 deep instead of 4. (doesn't really make at difference as they still operate as a deep unit). Hence the hoplites on the paint desk .<br />
<br />
I guess you can never have enough hoplites.<br />

The figures (<i>Aventine miniatures</i>), are based on 120mm x 60mm bases for use on gaming mats with 150mm grids. Although I did split one base in case I use my 200mm gridded mat.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple of 'Aventine' Italian hills tribesmen I painted to add to my units to make up some numbers. (I found them buried in my lead pile). I'm not sure what the lads with the swords are but I believe they are Aventine figures as well, and, they will fit in as command figures.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am in the process of doing some re-basing so I will show the results shortly.Guidowghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225369055297661084noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6270107060903881864.post-59655633484193689032018-10-16T18:41:00.000-07:002018-10-16T18:41:43.614-07:00Chariots<br />
I needed a couple of heavy chariot units for my Carthaginian forces and after looking on the net I ordered a pair from 1st Corps miniatures. Yeah I know they are 'successor' chariots and Carthage didn't use scythed chariots, but what the hell, they looked nice.<br />
<br />
I will use changeable crews to depict whether the chariot is heavy with lance or scythed. I intended to magnetise the scythes on the wheels but decided I would probably lose them so they are glued in place.<br />
<br />
The colour scheme I took from the net as well, as I saw a pair painted by a professional painter, Jose-Manuel Chasco.<br />
<h1 class="archive-title" style="background-color: white; border: 0px; clear: both; color: #2b2b2b; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

Middle of winter and I have the flu, God I hate the cold, bring back the heat please. I have slowly been adding to the Italian platoon and below is what I have completed to date.<br />
<br />
All minis are "Perrys" except the HMG team which is "Warlord". The Warlord minis are a lot smaller in size, maybe they are just young teenagers manning the gun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bDPB9erA0WE/W2fU8x0YE3I/AAAAAAAAA5k/szyhq0cfB0ET1oJAy17GhLiyU72NcDRtACLcBGAs/s1600/20180731_201440.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bDPB9erA0WE/W2fU8x0YE3I/AAAAAAAAA5k/szyhq0cfB0ET1oJAy17GhLiyU72NcDRtACLcBGAs/s320/20180731_201440.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XC4uVTLnEqo/W2fU9KWfL7I/AAAAAAAAA5o/MPwMRM_jqcoJPPhnijNNun7ZjcbU8q5eACLcBGAs/s1600/20180731_201515.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XC4uVTLnEqo/W2fU9KWfL7I/AAAAAAAAA5o/MPwMRM_jqcoJPPhnijNNun7ZjcbU8q5eACLcBGAs/s320/20180731_201515.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1seiAakLOXs/W2fVEjdWDxI/AAAAAAAAA5s/cUjjw5fG6Z4g91Mj0t69_PsdXQnMD_-mQCLcBGAs/s1600/20180806_121746.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1seiAakLOXs/W2fVEjdWDxI/AAAAAAAAA5s/cUjjw5fG6Z4g91Mj0t69_PsdXQnMD_-mQCLcBGAs/s320/20180806_121746.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I have just a few more units to add, mortar, anti-tank gun etc then that should suffice for now.<br />
<br />
Cheers.<br />

And 3 half size bases, (60mm x 60mm) of legionaries. Probably should have completed a few more but the painting mojo deserted me for a while.<br />

THEN.............like we all do do, I got side tracked on another small project. Perry Miniatures WW2 Italians. They are still from the Italian peninsular I guess. (MG team from Warlords)<br />
<br />
I used a painting guide supplied from Mark of 'Over Open Sights' blog. Very very helpful. If you haven't already check out his blog and view his brilliantly painted figures. http://over-open-sights.blogspot.com<br />

4 x units at this stage (120mm wide x 60mm) . I might add another half base to each to widen them.<br />
I used the same size basing as my ancient German because of the chunky figures so now I'm thinking of placing the Germans on deeper bases to represent 'deep' units for "To The Strongest"<br />

A command pack from <i>Warlord Games. </i>The Germans have attached commanders in "To the Strongest" rules and I had seen something similar to this elsewhere (brains fading), and thought it was a good way to represent it. <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8ee5icUe6t0/Woje-kawmnI/AAAAAAAAA1A/ODpFtg8bcmAnMI8sP7cpaTTtPv0o7cNBACLcBGAs/s1600/20180213_101939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8ee5icUe6t0/Woje-kawmnI/AAAAAAAAA1A/ODpFtg8bcmAnMI8sP7cpaTTtPv0o7cNBACLcBGAs/s320/20180213_101939.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
After much deliberation I've settled on my basing sizes. <i>(Is this where I place my disclaimer)</i> Cavalry will now be on 120mm x 80mm and the warbands on 120mm x 60 and 60mm x 60mm.<br />
<br />
This allows for any changes in grid sizes when using the "To the Strongest" rule set.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y19liIFC3ro/Woje_plcJhI/AAAAAAAAA1E/3E4Z3yysa7oOOkNThGLEnP7AmsJ0FJ3qgCLcBGAs/s1600/20180213_101956.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y19liIFC3ro/Woje_plcJhI/AAAAAAAAA1E/3E4Z3yysa7oOOkNThGLEnP7AmsJ0FJ3qgCLcBGAs/s320/20180213_101956.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

The cav was a pain to remove and rebase but achieved it without damaging the figures.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Thinking maybe I should have made the warband bases slightly deeper as I'm currently painting a few Romans, as a break from the Germans, and the figures are from <i>Black Tree Miniatures </i>which are quite large. As a result they look great on a 60mm depth base which is the same as the Germans.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7YRQXa8PVvI/Wojfwk9_poI/AAAAAAAAA1c/u1-tSFj2K2A4Gus5oo_K2vgqMcqKfHWKwCLcBGAs/s1600/20180218_094416.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7YRQXa8PVvI/Wojfwk9_poI/AAAAAAAAA1c/u1-tSFj2K2A4Gus5oo_K2vgqMcqKfHWKwCLcBGAs/s320/20180218_094416.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Maybe I'll just combine two warbands to give the impression of depth, Bugger, I'll have the purchase more figures.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Spring is here, so unfortunately less painting and more enjoying cold beer and great food in the sunshine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Below are two units of ancient German fanatics. Figures are predominately Black Tree Miniatures with a few Foundry ones thrown in. I've used the majority of my naked and semi-naked figures for these units to give them more of a wild look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uzRbsWw06d0/WbNCfaxIDJI/AAAAAAAAAyk/CsC73gOh3VY3aKoWgHE0ek6r7tTWKqN_wCLcBGAs/s1600/20170908_102236.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uzRbsWw06d0/WbNCfaxIDJI/AAAAAAAAAyk/CsC73gOh3VY3aKoWgHE0ek6r7tTWKqN_wCLcBGAs/s320/20170908_102236.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The banners are actually orc banners from puppetswar.eu. I thought they looked the part being nice and furry like the bits of the clothing the warriors are wearing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fgf3uFpDPH4/WbNCo_8k1AI/AAAAAAAAAys/9H3bzQDV2M8RXZRyQYKTm9cpNxEZUoDEgCLcBGAs/s1600/20170908_102300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fgf3uFpDPH4/WbNCo_8k1AI/AAAAAAAAAys/9H3bzQDV2M8RXZRyQYKTm9cpNxEZUoDEgCLcBGAs/s320/20170908_102300.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've also given most of the figures wicker shields to make them semi-uniform and stand apart from the other German warbands. I have one other warband finished, so only 9 to go!!! So much for the winter project......mmmmm............maybe a spring project instead.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally got my arse back into gear and started to prepare the next lot of ancient Germans that I NEED to paint. These figures are all 'Black Tree Miniatures' I purchased a year or so ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After watching http://caliban-somewhen.blogspot.com.au/ roll out his Germans and http://wabcorner.blogspot.com.au/ punch out his 'War of the Roses" figures I thought I had better get moving. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mm1GsZipUkQ/WVjcSJpjdxI/AAAAAAAAAxk/Wrf0_v8W4zgYldxB9hxDvyiAaOnQjslRACLcBGAs/s1600/20170702_123814%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mm1GsZipUkQ/WVjcSJpjdxI/AAAAAAAAAxk/Wrf0_v8W4zgYldxB9hxDvyiAaOnQjslRACLcBGAs/s320/20170702_123814%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Although I have been getting side-tracked lately, (don't we all), and decided to put a few green skins to the brush. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XQQamn61JpU/WVjcpy2m0kI/AAAAAAAAAxo/xcmXn09S5p4aXuxPfNVHvHz9BF_uJ4lIwCLcBGAs/s1600/20170702_123902%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XQQamn61JpU/WVjcpy2m0kI/AAAAAAAAAxo/xcmXn09S5p4aXuxPfNVHvHz9BF_uJ4lIwCLcBGAs/s320/20170702_123902%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I was only going to do ten but a few more have crept onto the desk.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2ysC_zra--E/WVjcxVroT6I/AAAAAAAAAxs/Nw4HXwCFji88vieCklDT7YxHFECnAT2QgCLcBGAs/s1600/20170702_123844%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2ysC_zra--E/WVjcxVroT6I/AAAAAAAAAxs/Nw4HXwCFji88vieCklDT7YxHFECnAT2QgCLcBGAs/s320/20170702_123844%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Friday night was a fantastic <span style="text-align: center;">'War of the Roses' game using Andrew's figures. Again we moved the figures around utilising Simon Miller's great rule set - "To the Strongest"</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cQ8bHDQXdsk/WVjc-zVGKJI/AAAAAAAAAxw/2lk-Tj6qv5E3GdYvXXtd6aTLCWvR3jmKQCLcBGAs/s1600/20170630_173649%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cQ8bHDQXdsk/WVjc-zVGKJI/AAAAAAAAAxw/2lk-Tj6qv5E3GdYvXXtd6aTLCWvR3jmKQCLcBGAs/s320/20170630_173649%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
160pts armies and the game took about 3hrs with 2 players aside - although we did stop for a food break.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lDhqE56Jkbg/WVjdHQVGcyI/AAAAAAAAAx0/eAQcB0NT43k_pVkL9puSZ2T1BvCgZOULACLcBGAs/s1600/20170630_184132%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lDhqE56Jkbg/WVjdHQVGcyI/AAAAAAAAAx0/eAQcB0NT43k_pVkL9puSZ2T1BvCgZOULACLcBGAs/s320/20170630_184132%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I did intend to take a few more photos, but got wrapped up in the game.<br />

Maybe the next "to the Strongest" game will involve these lads shown below. They belong to a friend of mine, Andrew (Kiwi). He has done a fantastic job these figures and has plenty more in storage.</div>

<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 13.2px;">Anyway the Picts were very aggressive and march moved across the board. Pict light cavalry moved through the woods to catch the Roman cataphracts in a flank assault (and manage to disorder them), after the Romans had turned to face the Pictish cavalry who were in the process of forcing the Roman light cavalry off the board.<br />
Both units of Roman light cav evaded off the board and tried in vain to return over the next following turns but kept failing their orders.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Roman cav on their left flank forcing the Pictish light cav back. The Picts didn't always make the evade successfully each time but they kept making their save rolls much to the frustration of the Roman cavalry commander.</div>

<br />
The Pictish spearmen were slowly becoming disordered along the line with the Pictish warlord's unit taking two disorders.<br />
Then a breakthrough for the Picts, a veteran auxiliary unit is destroyed, the adjacent Roman units pasted their rout tests. (new rules added since we last gamed) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tCERigADxCQ/WTtig3k-erI/AAAAAAAAAvk/iTH_4Cn7omEa2jgkW9O24KHCHC7pvOhbgCEw/s1600/20170609_143222.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tCERigADxCQ/WTtig3k-erI/AAAAAAAAAvk/iTH_4Cn7omEa2jgkW9O24KHCHC7pvOhbgCEw/s320/20170609_143222.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
But that was the least of the Roman worries, the cataphracts perished under a hail of javelin fire from the Pictish cav. Now the whole Roman right flank was exposed,<br />

The Picts sensed victory as the spear unit turned to flank another auxiliary unit.<br />

<br />
Meanwhile on the Roman left flank the Roman cav had managed to destroy their first unit of enemy light cav on the last line.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Romans were now getting very worried but were now in position to conduct a flank attack of their own. But time was running out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Disaster for the Romans, the Pictish cavalry commander slips behind the Roman lines and captures an undefended baggage and another auxiliary unit is destroyed. Only one victory point until Pictish victory.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1qjURrTwsDI/WTtjw5eNe_I/AAAAAAAAAwE/DPn1B7HoM10SzmCb5MuONdr2-BjJu2aowCEw/s1600/20170609_151214.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1qjURrTwsDI/WTtjw5eNe_I/AAAAAAAAAwE/DPn1B7HoM10SzmCb5MuONdr2-BjJu2aowCEw/s320/20170609_151214.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

But wait, the destroyed Roman units caused a rout test. The test is conducted and an adjacent legionary unit, who is already disordered, FAIL their two attempts to pass the rout test causing it to break and flee.<br />
Major Pict victory, looks like the Romans will be leaving Britain a wee bit earlier. The Roman gods can be very fickle as the Romans only managed to destroy one unit of enemy light cav after it had kept the Roman cav busy all game.<br />
Thank you gentlemen for the game. Two played Roman, one new player the Picts, (I think he now likes these rules), one observer (to nervous to join in) and I ran it. Hope I got the new rules right.<br />
Game mat (20cm squares) is from Simon MILLER who also created these great rules.<br />

Apologies in advance re the quality of the photos. Lads can over for a game of "To the Strongest" last night. Usually foes faced off - Polybian Roman versus Pyrrhic.<br />

The Romans managed to get the first blows in disordering a few of the pike units. It was a bit of a pushing match in the centre for both sides. The new Roman line relief rules gave the smaller Roman units a bit of staying power, although in the centre a unit of legionaries was destroyed by missile fire.<br />

I think we were doing the Roman line relief rules correctly.----- ie the line exchange only occurs in the Romans activation (turn). So in this case with the incoming missile fire the Romans didn't have time to exchange lines. I'll have to check this with Simon Miller (author of the rules) to make sure we are doing this ok.<br />

Even with the one loss the Romans smashed the far flank and started to move behind the Pyrrhic army, victory was in sight. Then disaster struck................the Pyrrhic elephant and cavalry both destroyed the Romans units facing them on the closest flank and the game was up for grabs. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HcZ4yeKzch8/WMyibd8MTuI/AAAAAAAAAt4/gVMd63cFQ3EPrQE5WlhhsjsoSqExGQK8QCLcB/s1600/tts%2B010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HcZ4yeKzch8/WMyibd8MTuI/AAAAAAAAAt4/gVMd63cFQ3EPrQE5WlhhsjsoSqExGQK8QCLcB/s320/tts%2B010.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
But one roman general had had enough and quickly made a grab for the undefended baggage thus putting an end to the upperty Epirot's. The Pyrrhic commander was not amused and commended on the ungentlemanly attack on the camp.<br />

The final placements of units upon finishing the game. Once again Rome is master of the field.<br />

Great game and great rules that make gaming fun and easy to achieve results..........even with a few drinks throughout. 3 New units added to my late Romans which I started many moons ago. I've based them on 3 60mm x 40mm bases to be used with 'TotheStrongest' rules written by Simon Miller aka BigRedBat. They are sitting on a gaming mat I purchased from Simon Miller's online store BigRedBatCave, which has 200mm squares marked out. <br />

My other gaming buddies have purchased mats from Simon which are marked with 150mm squares, so if I game with them I'll have 6 units with a 120mm frontage.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Looking at them now I think I prefer deeper bases but its too late to change now. I'll probably grab some movement trays which will add a bit of depth anyway. I do like the look of Simon's jaggered edged bases but most of my figures are based in this current fashion and thats way too much work for me to rebase.<br />
BUT!!!! like the rest of you guys I do have future plans, ie War of the Roses.........and I haven't based any of those as yet..................mainly because I haven't painted many at all. <br />
